Casebolt Racing Scores first win of the season
and 5th place LOLMDS finish
RICHMOND, IN - Steve Casebolt and his Rockstar Energy/Makita
race team had a very successful weekend. The team was
scheduled to race to Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series
events. The races were supposed to be at Cherokee Speedway
in Gaffney, SC and Wythe Raceway in Wytheville, VA.
On Friday Steve and team traveled to South Carolina
for the first time this season. A poor qualifying run
unfortunately relegated the number C9 car to 7th starting
position in their heat race. Steve advanced 2 positions
in the heat and finished in 5th. The 5th place heat
finish set up a front row starting spot for the B-Main.
Steve transferred to the main event through his consolation
race by placing 2nd. When the green flag flew for the
main event Steve immediately began his charge forward.
With the help of some key restarts and a savvy tire
choice Steve steered his Rockstar Energy/Makita car
to the 5th position by the race's end.
"I was very happy to have gotten a top 5 out of
our race at Gaffney. When we arrived at the track I
went over some notes and realized that I had never made
a main event at Gaffney without the help of a provisional.
However, I knew that if we could just make the main
event we would have a car capable of moving forward
and having a strong run. We then qualified for the main
event on our own and had a strong top five finish. We
considered this a success considering our poor track
record there", stated Steve.
On Saturday the team traveled to Wytheville, VA. After
arriving at the track and getting prepared to race the
LOLMDS sanctioned event the rains came. The event was
cancelled and the team headed home. After some phone
calls and quick decision-making they changed the route
to Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio.
The team arrived at Portsmouth late and didn't get
any hot laps. Fortunately the guys did get the car unloaded
in time to qualify and they performed well. Steve qualified
3rd out of the 29 car field. Steve then finished 3rd
in the six lap dash which set up a 3rd place feature
starting position.
When the dust settled on the main event Steve found
himself victorious for the first time in the 2011 season.
Steve raced extremely hard with fellow competitor Eddie
Carrier Jr. The two cars had a spirited battle for the
lead among lapped traffic on several different occasions
with the lead being swapped a couple of times.
"We had a great time going to Portsmouth and getting
a win. It's always fun to race against tough competition
and still come out on top. Portsmouth is one of my favorite
places to go and this will definitely give me some needed
practice for the upcoming Lucas race there"
The team isn't sure where they will race this week
yet but plans will be made soon. For the most up to

2011
Casebolt Racing has strong performance in front
of CBS Cameras
RICHMOND, IN - Casebolt Racing turned in their strongest
weekend of the early 2011 season this passed weekend.
Steve drove the Rockstar/Makita car to a very impressive
3rd place finish at Forest Lucas's Lucas Oil Speedway
in Wheatland Missouri for the DART Show Me 100. The
team also traveled to Eldora Speedway's Memorial Day
event where the Steve captured the runner up position.
The 19th Annual DART Show Me 100 marked the first time
that a dirt late model event will ever be aired on CBS.
"The DART Show Me 100 being on CBS is one of the
coolest thing that has happened to our sport since I
have been involved in it. For something that I am a
part of to be broadcast over such a huge stage is just
amazing. I am thrilled to have been a part of it and
happy that I had a strong run for my sponsors and team".
The team actually started the weekend off a little
slow. On Friday evening Steve posted just the 24th fastest
qualifying time out of the 40 cars in his group. Unfortunately
this was only good enough for the 8th starting position
in the 6th heat race. With a slick move on the first
corner of the race Steve advanced all the way from the
8th position to third very quickly.
Steve eventually finished in the 3rd and final transfer
spot for Saturday's main event. Steve's exceptional
heat race performance allowed the team to start in the
18th starting position of the 30 car field. "With
81 cars on hand your primary focus has to first be making
it into the main event. There were a lot of good cars
here that didn't make it into the finals and we were
glad we weren't one of them," said Steve
When the feature started Steve immediately began his
march forward. Progress was a little slow in the beginning
but the longer the race went on the better things got.
A mid race restart where Steve had contact with another
competitor was one of the only times that the black
number c9 lost a position all weekend.
As the laps wore down business picked up for the Rockstar/Makita
car. Steve passed 15 cars to advance all the way to
the 3rd position by the end of the event. Steve passed
Brian Birkhofer for third but didn't quite have enough
time to get a chance to race with eventual winner Jimmy
Owens or 2nd place finisher Scott Bloomquist.
"I wish we hadn't lost those positions mid race
and that we could have continued our march forward.
If we could have gotten to the front sooner we may have
been able to race with Scott and Jimmy some before the
race ended. However we are thrilled with third and just
glad that maybe the season has turned around a little
bit for us."
After getting a podium finish and being interviewed
by the CBS cameras Steve and team headed to Eldora Speedway's
Memorial Day event. Steve qualified 4th overall out
of the 42 car field and started 3rd in his heat race.
Steve and team completed the heat in 2nd position,
which would allow them to draw a front row outside starting
spot for the main event. After the 25 lapper Steve found
himself in the 2nd position for his 2nd top 3 finish
of the weekend. "We were happy to go to Eldora
and get some laps in before the Dream 100 coming up
in a few weeks. We were also close to getting a win
at Eldora too, so that was fun".
The Rockstar/Makita team will travel to Cleveland,
TN, Tazewell, TN and Florence, KY this coming weekend
to compete in 3 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series events.

FEBRUARY

Casebolt Racing Welcomes Partners Rockstar Energy
Drink and Makita Power Tools for the 2011 Season
RICHMOND, IN - Steve Casebolt Racing is proud and excited
to announce their new partnership with Rockstar Energy
Drink and Makita Industrial Power Tools. The team is
extremely busy preparing the equipment to the new sponsors
look and design.
"We feel very fortunate that these two top companies
have decided to be a part of our program for the upcoming
2011 season. With the amount of money that it takes
to run a top tour such as the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt
Series good sponsors are a welcome addition", says
Steve.
The team did not plan to follow the series again in
2011 until the new partnerships formed. "I was
extremely torn as to what the right move for my racing
team would be for the upcoming season. We have had trouble
keeping up with some of the better-funded teams on the
series for the past few seasons and didn't know what
direction to go.
It was almost a certainty that we wouldn't follow the
tour again until we were fortunate enough to land the
Rockstar deal. I am extremely pleased at how well all
of this has came together over the past few weeks. 2
weeks ago our cars were all white with no sponsors at
all on them. In a very short amount of time we have
turned this team into the Rockstar/Makita race team.
The very most important thing to me in my racing is
trying to become a team that is capable of winning the
big races. Rockstar and Makita are allowing me to continue
to strive to reach my goals as a driver and team owner.
To have one big name sponsor on my car is a very cool
thing, but to have the combination of Rockstar and Makita
makes me very proud that these two companies think enough
of me to allow me to represent them. We are excited
to get the season rolling at Eastbay in a few days and
we can't wait to unveil the new Rockstar/Makita machine.
Thanks to Forest Lucas and the Lucas Oil Late Model
Dirt Series the team has the ability to showcase their
talents on several television specials and marquee events
throughout the season. Without Lucas Oil Casebolt Racing
would never be able to gain the attention of such major
companies as Rockstar and Makita.
With Casebolt and team being a part of the series since
it's inception in 2005 they are firm believers in the
platform that Lucas Oil provides to dirt track racers
across the country. Although the team hasn't been the
biggest winner on the series we do feel as if we make
our presence known at every event and look forward to
representing both Rockstar and Makita to the best of
our ability.
