Casebolt 5th
at SuperClean Diamond Nationals; Tied for Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt
Series Point Lead
RICHMOND,
IN (May 14, 2008) - After consistently being one of the
fastest cars on the track all weekend Steve and team finished a
strong 5th at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, MO.
The team began the weekend by being the fastest car in
practice out of 80 entrants.
In qualifying on Friday night Steve was 4th
fastest overall starting him on the pole of the fourth heat race.
“We were very pleased with the way things went on
qualifying night and the weekend in general”, said Steve.
After qualifying, the team had a chance to compete in a
pit-stop competition for an additional $1,000.
Steve’s pit stop headed up by crew chief Eric Killion was 5th
fastest out of the 20 cars that were entered.
Also on tap Friday night was a best appearing car and crew
award where the team placed 2nd.
“We had lots of fun Friday competing for the extra money
and giving our crew guys some much needed exposure, hopefully we can
get to do more stuff like that in the future”, stated Steve.
Unfortunately Saturday’s events were washed out and
rescheduled for Sunday afternoon.
Sunday began with the team running 2nd in their
heat race to one of the nation’s hottest drivers, Billy Moyer. The team was a little disappointed to not win their heat but
the runner up spot still started Steve in the 10th
position.
After the heat races the track was prepped for the 100 lap
feature. Steve steadily
picked through the competition and worked his way to a very
respectable 5th place finish among the highly competitive
field. At the
conclusion of the event Steve was the highest finishing Lucas Oil
driver and was tied for the national series point lead with
defending champion Earl Pearson Jr.
“It’s a little early in the season to get very excited
about being in the point lead but we are thrilled that things are
going the way they are for us right now”, said Steve.
Next week the team travels to Farley, IA on Friday where
Steve was the runner up in last year’s competition and La Salle,
IL on Saturday.
