Casebolt Racing Finishes 4th at KLMS, moves to 2nd
in points
RICHMOND,
IN
(May 6, 2008) - In a
night that saw lots of great racing, Steve moved from his 13th
starting spot to finish 4th in the night’s main event.
The team started the evening by posting the 6th
fastest qualifying time and earning a front row starting spot for
his heat race. In the heat Steve didn’t fair too well as he dropped to 4th
place.
Before
the feature began track crews reworked the racing surface to provide
a really competitive event. The
team wasn’t ready for such a change in the racing surface and went
out onto the track with a combination that wasn’t suited for the
new track conditions. “We
immediately began making pit stops as soon as the race began in
order to get our car set-up for the new track conditions”, said
Steve. The team made a
total of four pitstops throughout the 50 lap event, the last of
which was on a lap 32 caution.
With 18 laps remaining Steve charged from the back of the
field to 4th place, where he would finish the event.
Steve
finished ahead of every other driver that was in the top five in
Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series points standings, which moved him
past Terry Casey and inched him closer to series point leader Earl
Pearson.
Steve
Casebolt Racing will now travel to Wheatland, MO; home of the Lucas
Oil Speedway for a $40,000 to win event in which the team has a
guaranteed starting spot thanks to being in the top 2 in series
point standings.
